NeuralVista Neuroscience Lab

The NeuralVista Hybrid Neuroscience Lab integrates physical research space with a modern virtual research ecosystem. We combine cognitive testing, digital neuroscience tools, AI-based analysis, and global datasets to advance the scientific understanding of the brain and behavior.

Our mission is to conduct accessible, high-quality research while training students, clinicians, and future scientists through hands-on and remote learning models.

Lab Visualization

Research Focus Areas

Advanced research across key areas of brain and behavior.

Cognitive Neuroscience & Decision-Making

Examines how people think, make choices, process information, and respond to risk or reward. We study working memory, attention, and executive function.

Neuropsychology & Brain–Behavior Assessment

Explores the relationships between brain functioning and behavior using cognitive tests, standardized assessments, and computational analysis.

Digital Neuroscience & AI-Based Cognitive Analysis

Uses machine learning, computational modeling, and open-source datasets (EEG, fMRI) to enhance the understanding of cognitive performance and neural signatures.

Mental Health, Emotion & Wellbeing

Studies how stress, anxiety, mood, and emotional regulation influence cognition and functioning. We aim to identify markers that shape mental wellbeing.

Addiction Neuroscience & Impulse Control

Investigates how substance use impacts reward pathways, craving, impulsivity, and decision-making, grounded in Dr. Tohid’s clinical expertise.

Current Projects

Project 1: Craving, Impulsivity & Decision-Making in Substance Use

Project 1: Craving, Impulsivity & Decision-Making in Substance Use

Explores how cognitive control, reward sensitivity, and impulsive behavior differ in individuals with substance use risk using behavioral tasks and open-source datasets.

Project 2: The Impact of Stress on Working Memory & Executive Function

Project 2: The Impact of Stress on Working Memory & Executive Function

Investigates how acute stress affects attention, cognitive flexibility, and performance on tasks such as the Stroop Test and N-back to understand the brain’s response to real-world stressors.

Project 3: AI Prediction of Cognitive Performance Using Open Neuroscience Datasets

Project 3: AI Prediction of Cognitive Performance Using Open Neuroscience Datasets

Uses machine learning tools to analyze large open datasets to predict memory, attention, emotional regulation, and other cognitive outcomes, highlighting the transformative role of AI.
